E.C.C.E Scheme

Children can start ECCE when they are 2 years and 8 months of age and continue until they transfer to primary school (provided that they are not older than 5 years and 6 months at the end of the pre-school year). Please check the ECCE calculator online to check your child’s eligibility.

ECCE is not affected by the introduction of the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) – this scheme provides financial support towards the cost of childcare for the hours spent outside of pre-school. You can read more on ncs.gov.ie.

** Please note, as Bumblebees is open all year round, the ECCE scheme funding is divided over the full 12 months. You will only receive funding for the number of days you attend Bumblebees. E.g. if you attend 5 days you will receive 5 days capitation x 38 weeks (no of paid weeks from the Government) divided by 12 months, which is €204.25 off per month.
